Why then, the not so good rating? Two things. The whole place has a quaint atmosphere that I thought was quite charming, not really hostel but not your average hotel feeling either. They are really nice and I can't complain about service.

The two ladies manning the restaurant seemed to be in charge of the whole thing. I missed a good bircher, some cut fruits, more local cheese and less indutrial jams, but the coffee was good and the bread was excellent. Breakfast was more "average" than what I'm acustomed to from hiking in Switzerland, but not bad. The restaurant is good, I only had dinner there once but the burger was tasty and they had local beer. The reception itself seems to be mostly unmanned, I checked in at the restaurant and checked out by leaking my key in a box.

The hotel offers free tea and coffeee (Nespresso) in the lobby area by the reception, that's a really nice touch.

Also, I never found out how you can switch on the light on the night table (an old chair, I liked the touch). The only one I could find was high on the wall together with the light switch by the door. One BIG design flaw in the digital age is the lack of (convenient) electric plugs. The bed was too soft for my taste, but I like really firm mattresses. The room also had a small balcony with a view of the castle. The design is modern and impersonnal, there are a few stains and scratches on the wall (not the type that can be washed, the type you need to paint over). I didn't like the room perfume sticks as I'm quite sensitive to smell I also noticed a humidity smell from the wc/shower room, maybe the sticks are to cover that. My room was ok, it was clean and functionnal. In retrospect I should have chosen a hotel in the old city, which would have given me a bit more time to wander around before leaving. The location isn't bad, but it's at the opposite of town with regards to the path. I booked a single room for one night in order to be able to start the hike around to Thunersee not too late in the morning. But it was just not the right place for me.

Whether you are meeting a simple yearning to sink into the healing energy of the herd, to reconnect with yourself and the natural world, or whether you have more specific goals related to your personal or professional growth, the retreat is an opportunity for you to stand back and take stock.įor dates, more details and prices and how to book see Events page.I would love to say I liked this hotel, because it has so much to offer. Otherwise you are invited to book your own accommodation in a nearby gite, Air BNB or chambres d’hotes, or campsites and we will assist you in this. Limited accommodation is available at La Source on a first come first served basis, in one of the delightful gites – two bedroomed Honeysuckle Cottage or one-bedroomed Rose Cottage. On the first morning of the programme we will visit the market in the local village to purchase fresh produce and to the supermarket to buy necessary groceries. Lunch and dinner are prepared and taken as a group. Breakfast is self-service, taken in your accommodation or in the gardens as you choose. Special dietary requirements will be accommodated. Being in service like this to the entire herd is an important part of the practise of the retreat as well as taking care of our own needs. Cooking and clearing will be shared responsibilities as well as the hands on care of the horses. Each day we will tune into the needs present and take care of them as a group. You will be invited to be in the service of the herd as well as the group, contributing to the care of both the human and horse herd. The retreats are offered with a community spirit and are self-catered. There is an emphasis on integration of mind, body and spirit, embodied presence and compassion. The retreats offer an opportunity for both structured and spacious encounters with the horses with time for reflection and simply soaking in the beauty of nature in this small, verdant valley in North Western France. Join me at my home in France to fall under the spell of the herd and with them embark on an extraordinary journey of self-discovery.
